Deputy Sherrer, 31, was responding to a domestic disturbance call when he was gunned down in what authorities are calling a senseless and heartbreaking act of violence.
A Tragic Loss on a Day of Remembrance
Deputy Sherrer’s death occurred in the line of duty on a day that already carries deep significance for honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. According to Morrow County Sheriff John Hinton, the incident unfolded rapidly when Deputy Sherrer arrived at the scene of a domestic disturbance. Gunfire erupted shortly after his arrival. The suspect in the case was also shot and sustained serious injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care and in custody. An investigation is ongoing and being led by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
