A Schalmont High School senior, Eric Paulus, tragically died after being struck by a train early Monday morning in Rotterdam. The incident occurred around 2:13 a.m. near Putnam Road.
Eric was a valued member of the boys’ soccer team. The school district expressed deep sorrow, saying, “Eric was a wonderful young man, and our entire Schalmont community sends heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, and everyone who knew him during this very difficult time.”
